The story is about a family of three sisters and one brother with a dog living and running a Japanese Ryokan in Tenjin-cho, Hiroshima near Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall.

The first installment of the Showa Gamblers series. In 1964, as Tokyo buzzes with excitement over the upcoming Olympics, Ginzaki of the Kansai Senba Union approaches Hanamura, the leader of the “Asakusa Union Eight,” who controls the gambling dens in the Asakusa area. He proposes a joint operation for a grand gambling event.

Hiroshima is a 1995 Japanese / Canadian film directed by Koreyoshi Kurahara and Roger Spottiswoode about the decision-making processes that led to the dropping of the atomic bombs by the United States on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki toward the end of World War II. A combination of dramatisation, historical footage, and eyewitness interviews, the film alternates between documentary footage and the dramatic recreations.

The second installment of the Showa Gamblers series. In the mid-1950s, Orin, the daughter of Takashima Tomezō, the 8th-generation leader of the Takashima clan in Jōshū Nitta, seeks out Seijirō Hanamura, an old friend of her father. She hopes to stop the Narita-gumi, who are plotting to take over the main family.

"You have to think about whether they're really your friends," Johnny's dad says when Johnny talks to him about the grief his pals have been giving him lately. The other boys haven't exactly tried to understand why Dad opened up his family's home to Miyeko, a survivor of the Hiroshima Atomic bomb. Although she is only in America a short time to have surgery on her badly scarred face and arm, her visit reveals just how many ignorant and intolerant attitudes still exist 10 years after the war's end. But Johnny, who also resents Miyeko at first, becomes one of her fiercest defenders after he makes the effort to look past her outward appearance. Only then can the scars begin to heal.
